Objectives:
Provide a detailed knowledge on PWR fuel thermal-hydraulic design. The trainee will profit from the thermal-hydraulic experience of Framatome engineers and from their concrete and applied examples related with world-wide safety authorities requirements and reactor fuel thermal-hydraulic design for different reactor types (Siemens, Westinghouse, EPR).
Content:
The training consists of the following topics:
1st part: Stationary thermal-hydraulic design
Departure-from-Nucleate-Boiling (DNB) / Boiling crisis
Phenomenology
Critical Heat Flux (CHF) tests
DNB-surveillance for Siemens/KWU reactors
Thermal-hydraulic design & thermal-hydraulic compatibility
Mixing
Pressure drop (coefficients)
Hot-channel method
Sub-channel method
Bypass-analysis
2nd part: Transient analyses
Principles of PWR
